The cause to this error might be related to the file or application corruption. The first thing to try is a simple reboot of the computer. Secondly, go to Device Manager (Start > Run > devmgmt.msc) and make sure the camera is installed properly on your computer. Finally, re-install the application, but make sure to remove before starting this application.
Insert the CD and follow the instructions to begin the re-installation.
The backup files are stored in the installation folder of the application. The backup files contain meta data and thumbnails of the files you have backed up. It does not contain the images. From this point of view, the restore operation is practically useless because you will get thumbnails of the original images. There is no need to import or open the files since these are in their original format.
